Sule Sax, the grandson of Prophet S.O Kogberegbe of The Holy Michael Church of the Lord, has said he is fully back in the Christian fold to use his skill to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ.
His decision is coming after years of playing saxophone as a band member of a popular Nigerian fuji artiste.
Speaking at the recently held pre-convention programme put up by the Youth Fellowship of C&S Unification, Lagos State chapter, where he was a guest minister, he narrated how he was diagnosed with kidney disease back in August 2019.
While he claimed that God gave him a second chance at life following his recovery, the popular saxist, whose real name is Sulaimon Abiodun Lasisi, also reminds the Christian faithful that hellfire indeed exists.
Reliving his experience, he said, “I had a small sickness in 2019 which was later discovered to be kidney failure. I was told I would have to do a kidney transplant. But before I could do the transplant, the sickness has gotten worse and I almost died. While the doctors battled to save my life, my spirit had transitioned to another realm. And that was when I saw the devil. I used to watch it in movies, but it happened to me. So the devil shouted my name, Sule Sax! and I was terrified. I was later drawn to where I saw hellfire. And this made me believe that hell is real. With what they showed me, no matter how big the person is, he would be folded and tied before being thrown into the fire.”
He, however, stated that the experience has changed his life, as he now asks people to give their life to Christ. “As I am now, I wake up every morning to do evangelism. My megaphone is always at the back of my car. A life without Jesus is a calamity. This life is vanity,” he declared.
While quoting the book of Matthew 6:33, Sule Sax said, God’s intervention made him not yield to the devil’s request.
He continued, “As the devil tried to get me into the hellfire, the Spirit of God appeared to me, asking me not to give up. Meanwhile, the devil at this point asked me to call him ‘My Lord’ but I refused.
I only referred to him as ‘Brother Esu’. I also pleaded with him to give me a chance to check up on my wife and children. But he insisted that I was dead. It was the other spirit that instructed me to claim that I’m not dead, which I repeatedly said, and that was how I came back to life.”
According to him, when the sickness got to a critical stage, he asked God if he could be given another chance to live, while he vowed never to go back to the world again, but use his gift for His Kingdom purpose.
Sule Sax, therefore, thanked the chairman of the youth fellowship, Bro Muyiwa Odedina, for his efforts during his travails. He also appreciated Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi, whom he said, solely funded his kidney transplant last year.
Acts of Seraphs understands that he is planning to hold a programme tagged: Sule Sax and Friends Live Concert With Thanksgiving, slated to hold by November 21. The proposed dress code is said to be strictly all-white casual wear.
