– Why We Must Avoid Building Collapse In Lagos- Lagos Lawmaker Warns
Lagos Lawmaker, Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau has called on developers and landlords alike to adhere to best global practices at all times to forestall a recurrence of the avoidable incident.
This call was made as he did an on spot assessment of the collapsed 2-storey building in Amusu Street, Sari-Iganmu, Lagos, one of the areas he represents at Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Mr Dede Emmanuel, Honourbale Musbau who represents Apapa Constituency II said, “After the official assignment that took me out of town for few days, I had an on spot assessment of the collapsed 2-storey building in Amusu Street, Sari-Iganmu.
“After my engagement with eyewitnesses, I was reliably informed that no live was lost at the tragic event as occupants of the ill-fated building had been forwarned of the impeding collapse which they heeded.
“I must equally seize this opportunity to commend the combined efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, LASBCA and other responders for the swift response and how the entire area was cordoned off before the adjoining building was equally pulled down.”
He stressed further that his heart goes out to all residents of the area and the entire community for the psychological trauma they must have suffered as a result of the devastating incident.
Also, LAM as he is fondly called in the political arena said, “I hereby call on developers and landlords alike to adhere to best global practices of the built industrial at all times to forestall a recurrence of the avoidable incident.
“Once again, I encourage each and every member of our community to rally round each other during this difficult time.” He said.
