The panel, consisting of eight members, was appointed by the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to investigate the controversy surrounding Mmesoma’s UTME result. The panel’s findings were made public in an eight-page report, which recommended that Mmesoma issue an unreserved written apology to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), her school (Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi), and the state government. The report also suggested that Mmesoma undergo psychological counseling and therapy.

The investigation involved interviews with relevant parties, including Mmesoma, JAMB officials, and individuals involved in the process. The principal of Anglican Girls’ Secondary School was also consulted. The panel discovered that Mmesoma had submitted a request to JAMB using a different registration number, which showed an inflated UTME score of 362. However, JAMB confirmed that her actual score was 249.

Mmesoma admitted to manipulating her results herself using her phone.
