In her desperate quest to have a child, she entered into a relationship with a rich, married man—an Alhaji—who initially seemed caring and encouraging. Her primary goal was to become pregnant, as motherhood was something she deeply longed for. Eventually, her efforts paid off and she became pregnant, but the happiness was short-lived when she began suffering from severe abdominal pain. Upon medical examination, it was discovered that the pregnancy was ectopic and had to be medically removed.
Despite undergoing two IVF treatments, her aspiration to have a child remained unfulfilled. Her relationship with the Alhaji also deteriorated when his wife began meddling, making things increasingly difficult. Faced with mounting emotional stress and complications, she made the difficult decision to end the relationship and with it, her journey toward motherhood. Jayesimi later recounted the emotional toll of the experience, stating that her decisions stemmed from her sincere desire to have a baby, not to wreck another person’s marriage.
Speaking on her ordeal, she said, “The emotional pain was unbearable and I resorted to drinking alcohol to help me sleep. Later, I met an Alhaji who was very supportive. After several attempts, I became pregnant again, but constant pain followed. A scan confirmed it was an ectopic pregnancy and had to be terminated.”
