In the wake of the nationwide protests that erupted on August 1, 2024, amidst Nigeria’s economic hardships, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe and Genesis Global launched a new initiative titled “Nigeria Will Not Be Naked.” Through the program “Mercy On My Master,” streamed on Facebook, Prophet Ogundipe addressed the pressing issues facing the country, emphasizing the need for peaceful expressions of dissatisfaction.

Prophet Ogundipe, with his watchword Ogun Oda Bí Eko: War Is Not As Good As Pap, urged the youth and the general populace to avoid violence and chaos during the protests. He highlighted how some individuals, under the guise of protesting, have resorted to looting and destroying property. This destructive behavior, he stressed, harms the very people it purports to represent, as it is the common citizens who own the properties being destroyed, not the government officials.

Prophet Ogundipe made it clear that while it is important to voice grievances, it should be done peacefully and orderly. He warned against the escalation of these protests into full-blown conflict, as wars disproportionately impact innocent citizens rather than those in power. He urged everyone to avoid praying for war or seeking it, as the resulting devastation would be borne by the masses rather than the government officials.

He also called on the government to heed the cries of the people, acknowledging the widespread hardship that has led to the protests. The demonstrators’ demands for a reduction in the cost of governance and food prices are a reflection of the severe economic pressure faced by many Nigerians. Prophet Ogundipe’s message was one of empathy and understanding, recognizing the justified frustration of the people while advocating for a peaceful approach to seeking change.

In these challenging times, the message “Ogun Oda Bí Eko” serves as a reminder that peace and dialogue are preferable to conflict and destruction. Prophet Ogundipe’s call for peaceful protests is a crucial message for all involved, encouraging a path forward that seeks to unite rather than divide, and to build rather than destroy.
