UK-based gospel singer and songwriter Sam Ifon has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to gospel music, receiving the Best Gospel Artist of the Year award at the Gbedu Awards 2025. The award ceremony took place in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 28, 2025, celebrating excellence across music and entertainment.
The official Certificate of Honour, presented by the Gbedu Awards, acknowledges his impact, consistency, and artistry within the gospel music space. Framed in gold, the plaque reflects both prestige and recognition earned through years of dedication to music.
Born in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Sam Ifon is widely regarded as one of the finest African-born songwriters of his generation. His musical journey spans decades, beginning with a deep love for music that evolved into professional success during the 1990s when he formed the Liverpool-based band Party People. The group recorded notable songs such as Freedom and Humankind Rich in Colours, which helped shape his songwriting identity.
As a solo artist, Sam Ifon has released three albums — Freedom, Love at 49, and Echoes of Love — each reflecting maturity, faith, and lyrical depth. His work is known for blending heartfelt gospel messages with strong songwriting and melodic richness.
Currently, Sam Ifon is preparing the release of his fourth album, Supernatural Gospel, scheduled for February 2026. The project is expected to feature some of his most powerful gospel compositions yet, including The Beatitudes, Psalm 23, Glory Hallelujah, and Teach Us How to Pray.
This Gbedu Awards recognition not only celebrates a milestone moment in Sam Ifon’s career but also reinforces his growing influence within the global gospel music community.
