Richard Olorunrokan Adekola, popularly known as King Rokan, a renowned Nigerian-American Juju maestro, award-winning musician, and Atlanta legend, is dead.
King Rokan was the first Nigerian to start a live band in Atlanta, Georgia, where he performed Highlife, Juju, and Gospel music, captivating audiences with his unique sound and energy. Over the years, he earned numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to music and culture. Some of his songs include: “Ilara,” “Magbagbe ft. 2Face,” “Ijo Oba ft. Femi Solar,” “Obatide,” “Igbekele Eniyan,” “Celebration,” “Yankee Advice,” and many more. He has also collaborated with leading Nigerian artists and managed much of their promotion in the USA.
He was born into the esteemed Richard Oloun-Rokan Adekola family in Iboropa, within the Akoko North-East Local Government area of Ondo, over half a century ago.
He was also the CEO of the Rokan Adekola Foundation, which supported various charitable causes.
Details surrounding his death are yet to be disclosed as we await official release from his family.
