The entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the deaths of two young skitmakers in separate incidents in Oyo and Lagos States.

Skitmaker Sanku Olaniyi, popularly known as Mrsankucomedy, died in a car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso Expressway in Ibadan on Monday, September 1, 2025.

According to The Nation, the crash occurred in the early hours of the day while Sanku was travelling with a friend. He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Sanku, who began his comedy career in 2021, rose to fame in 2024 after a viral freestyle video that attracted over 70,000 views. His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media platforms, where fans and fellow entertainers have been sharing tributes.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, another skitmaker identified simply as Austin was killed in the Lakowe community of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area on Thursday, August 14.

Eyewitnesses told Punch that suspected cultists stormed Austin’s residence in the early hours, dragged him out, and hacked him to death with machetes. Residents said one of his hands was severed during the attack.

Austin, also a professional hairstylist, was said to have left a cryptic farewell message on his WhatsApp status a day before his death, sparking speculation that he feared for his life.

The two incidents have raised concerns about the safety and well-being of young creatives across the country.
