From the brief insight shared by Agbaakin Abass Akande Obesere, we gathered that what happened recently with the Okitipupa thugs is not new. A similar incident once occurred years ago in Abeokuta.

Back then, Abeokuta thugs were notorious for attacking Fuji musicians and other entertainers during performances. According to direct sources, Obesere himself faced their assault. He did not keep quiet—he handled the matter professionally by reporting it to the Alagbon Police Command in Abeokuta, and the culprits were arrested according to the law.

In the end, those same thugs later traced their steps to Obesere’s house in Lagos to tender an apology for their actions.

Now again, we see history repeating itself:

Yesterday it was Abeokuta thugs; today it is Okitipupa thugs.

Both came with the same intention — and both times, Obesere stood firm and conquered.

This shows clearly that Obesere’s impact goes far beyond music.

He did not only contribute massively to the growth and originality of Fuji music; he also played a significant role in strengthening the safety of entertainers and entertainment events.

A true legend — in sound, in courage, and in leadership.
