A Lagos High Court has ordered popular businesswoman and former NTA staff member, Ms. Funke Otti, to return a luxury mansion in Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, to her ex-husband, Chief Isaac Jolapamo, after a legal battle over ownership of the property.
According to the court’s judgment, the judge ruled that the house legally belongs to Chief Jolapamo and directed Ms. Otti to hand it over immediately.
The court also ordered her to refund ₦410.3 million, said to be the balance from the sale of two vessels belonging to her ex-husband. In addition, she was instructed to pay back another ₦63 million she allegedly collected as rent from tenants occupying the property between 2018 and 2021.
To conclude the judgment, the court further slammed her with a ₦5 million fine.
Reports revealed that the couple first met at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). Chief Jolapamo was reportedly going through a difficult period in his life and had attended the church seeking spiritual help. Ms. Otti, who was said to be a senior member of the church at the time, was assigned to assist him.
Their relationship later grew into romance, and they got married in February 2017.
During the marriage, Chief Jolapamo reportedly entrusted his wife with the responsibility of handling the sale of two of his ships. He instructed her to use the proceeds from the deal to purchase a family home for both of them in Ikoyi.
Ms. Otti allegedly sold the vessels for over ₦810 million and used part of the money to acquire the luxury property in Parkview Estate. However, the court heard that she secretly registered the entire property in her own name without informing her husband.
The marriage later crashed after the truth reportedly came to light during a trip abroad. According to reports, Ms. Otti allegedly sent her husband back to Nigeria before later informing him through a WhatsApp message that the marriage was over and instructing him to move out of the Ikoyi mansion.
