One of the top and best staffers of MTN Nigeria, Mr Femi Odofin is bereaved. It is the death of his adorable mother, Mama Florence Aduke Odofin JP, who slept in the Lord on 20th April 2022. Mama joined her ancestors at age 78 after a brief illness.
However, the children and the entire family of Odofin in Ekiti State have picked 3 days for the final burial of their late mother which commences tomorrow 6th July 2022, with a Night of Tributes which will take place at Pa J.B Odofin’s residence, located at 23 Isin Nla Quarters, Textile Road, Ado Ekiti by 6pm.
Thursday 7th July will witness the lying in state at Hassant Event Center, opposite Faith Palace, Wasiri Road, Ado Ekiti by 5pm. Same day by 6pm, Christian Wake Keep will hold at the same venue and it shall be conducted by ST. Jude’s Anglican Church, Ado Ekiti.
Burial service will take place on Friday 8th July at Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesa, Ado-Ekiti by 10am before Mama’s remains will be lower down at the Cathedral Cemetery Ground, behind the Cathedral.
Entertainment of guests follows immediately at Afe Babalola Civic Center, Adebayo, Ado Ekiti.
For your information, the Late Mrs Florence Aduke Odofin J.P, was born on Sunday May 7, 1944, in her hometown, Ikere-Ekiti to late Pa Amos Adu Babalola of Odo Oja’s Quarters, Ikere-Ekiti and late Madam Abigail Ayisola Babalola (Eye Lusu) from Are’s quarters in Ikere-Ekiti.
She was from Ile Esemore (the abode of the female ruler) in Ikere-Ekiti. She was the first of six children.
Mama Odofin was married to Late Chief Joseph Babayemi Odofin from Ode-Ekiti, Gboyin Local Government in Ekiti State in 1965 and they lived together until his death in 2010. The marriage was blessed with 7 children; 6 girls and 1 boy who now one of the best staff at MTN Office here in Nigeria.
Mama Odofin started her elementary school at St Luke’s Primary School Iro quarters, Ikere Ekiti in 1953 and proceeded to Ogotun-Ekiti with her uncle, Mr. Elegunmo, who was then the headmaster of St Michael’s Primary School Ogotun-Ekiti. She migrated back to Holy Trinity Primary School Ikere-Ekiti in 1958 where she completed her primary education. She thereafter got admission into Harding Memorial Modern School, Ado-Ekiti as a boarding student in 1961 and later got a transfer to Ikere Local Government Authority Modern School between 1962 and 1963 where she obtained her Modern School Certificate. Her quest for knowledge prompted her to proceed to the Teacher Training College Efon-Alaye Ekiti where she obtained her Grade II Teacher’s Certificate in education.
Not willing to give up yet, she proceeded to then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife where she obtained her Advanced Certificate in Education in 1984. she continued in her quest and proceeded to College of Education Ikere-Ekiti between 1987 and 1991 and obtained the National Certificate in Education (NCE).
Mama Odofin started her career as a Grade II teacher in 1972 at the Local Authority Primary School, Iluomoba-Ekiti and then got transferred to many other different schools in Ekiti state some of which are:
God’s Grace Primary School Are, Ikere-Ekiti 1973 – 1976, Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Ado-Ekiti, St Michael Catholic Primary School Iluomoba-Ekiti, School B School Iyin-Ekiti and then School C Iyin-Ekiti.
She was transferred to Ansarudeen Muslim Primary School Oke-Ila Ado-Ekiti, from where she was moved back to Emmanuel Anglican Primary School Okesa Ado-Ekiti and then to St Stephen Primary School Okesa Ado-Ekiti.
Still in the quest of impacting lives and contributing her quota to the development of the society, mama Odofin was made an Assistant Head Teacher in charge of Local Authority Primary School Olobe and then as head teacher at Methodist Primary School Basiri, Ado-Ekiti and later transferred as head teacher to Harding Memorial Primary School Ado-Ekiti where she finally retired in 2004.
Mama Odofin was a seasoned administrator and counselor who has greatly impacted on the life of many around her. Her administrative prowess was brought to the fore when serving as a head teacher at Methodist Primary School Ado-Ekiti, a school that was considered very low to her cadre as a senior head teacher then. Notwithstanding, her ‘never give up attitude’ propelled her to success by producing the best student in the whole of Nigeria that same year. This huge success and laudable achievement turned the fortune of the school around as recognition, awards and honors were given by the Federal, State and Local governments to her, the student, and the school. Interviews were granted by several media outfit and T.V stations. Chief among all of these was when she was honored as the “Gbajumo ose yi” (Distinguished personality of the week) on Ekiti State Television.

1998: Appointment as a member of the P.T.A. of Anglican Primary School Okesa Ado-Ekiti -1998, 1998,appointment as a member of the Juvenile Court Panel of Ekiti State Government, Chosen as one of the “Omolukas” (Dignified personality) of Ado-Ekiti Local Government Council.Appointment as a life member of the Nigeria Council of Women Society Ekiti State branch.
e. Appointment as an executive member of Ado-Ekiti Local Government Cooperative Society.
f. A recipient of award and honors from Federal, State and Local Governments for producing the best student in National Entrance Examination –2001.
