IBADAN – The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter have declared that the threat of its governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin by the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi Auxiliary is a confirmation of the intelligence report that Governor Seyi Makinde is sensing imminent defeat in the forthcoming election and plan to deploy violence against his opponents.
As they also asked members of the public to hold Auxiliary responsible if anything bad happens to Senator Folarin.
Auxiliary, as the controversial figure is known, had, in a one-minute video, threatened to kill Folarin, the three-term senator if he does not behave himself.
He had accused the APC leader of recruiting militant against him ahead of the 2023 election in the state.
Auxiliary is believed to be mobilizing support for the re-election of his principal, Seyi Makinde.
According to the statement by the Oyo state APC youth leader, John Oyetunji, “We the Youth of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo state wish to make it categorically clear that should any harm come to our leader and gubernatorial candidate in light of the recent threat by the ex-convict and Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi Auxiliary, the good people of Oyo state will hold him and his principal responsible.
“We will not let them send us back to the days when elections were settled by the barrel of guns in Oyo state.
“His threat is a confirmation of our intelligence report that Governor Seyi Makinde sensing imminent defeat in the forthcoming election plans to deploy violence against his opponents.
“We shall not succumb to this threat and call on security operatives to act appropriately to ensure the safety of Senator Teslim Folarin and put Auxiliary in his place.
“Unlike the PDP government and its campaign of violence, our party and candidate will continue to run an issue-based campaign to deliver Oyo State from the captivity of these warmongers,” he said.
