A former governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has told Yoruba Nation campaigners to be patient.

Hailed as a hero by his supporters, Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo is leading the campaign for breakaway states in Nigeria’s South-West region. The separatists cite marginalisation and poor governance for their agitation.

But speaking recently in an interview with BBC News Yoruba, the chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed his belief that Nigeria will be better.

“I want to beg my people to be patient; Nigeria will be better. However, if it would be any better than this, all hands must be on deck.

“It may take time to achieve but we must be optimistic. Politicians are the ones to blame for this challenge. If we, politicians or leaders, had been doing the right thing from the top, things wouldn’t be so difficult and it would be easy to preach unity to our people,” Amosun said.
