Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai (Rtd), CFR, has commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, on the successful launch of the Online Discount Shop for Armed Forces personnel.
Buratai said the initiative was a transformative step that directly addressed the economic realities facing serving personnel, veterans, and their families. He noted that by providing access to essential goods at discounted prices, the platform demonstrated a practical commitment to the well-being of those who had dedicated their lives to the service of the nation. He also commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the Service Chiefs for their roles in the initiative.
He particularly commended the strategic partnership between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group, formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. He said the collaboration exemplified the forward-thinking approach of the current leadership in leveraging digital technology and private-sector expertise to enhance personnel welfare.
Buratai observed that the commitment to developing a comprehensive database, expanding vendor participation, and establishing physical outlets to complement the online platform reflected a long-term vision that went beyond a mere launch.
He encouraged all beneficiaries—serving personnel, veterans, and their families—to take full advantage of the platform, adding that it was the kind of innovative leadership that strengthened the Armed Forces from within and boosted morale.
He once again commended General Olufemi Oluyede and the entire Defence Headquarters team for the laudable initiative.
