Hundreds of residents of Ibadan North West Local Government Area, Oyo State, have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the City Boy Movement, Oyo State Chapter, as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare at the grassroots.
The outreach offered a wide range of free healthcare services, including medical consultations, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, urinalysis, dental examinations, eye screenings, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments and general health evaluations.
Participants diagnosed with various health conditions received prescribed medications at no cost, while beneficiaries with vision impairments were provided eyeglasses based on professional recommendations.
Many of the beneficiaries lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful amid rising healthcare costs.
They noted that the programme eased the financial burden of seeking medical attention and enabled many residents to receive treatment they might not otherwise have afforded.
One of the beneficiaries, Adetayo Azeez, expressed gratitude to the organisers, saying the free consultations, laboratory tests and medications saved him thousands of naira.
Speaking during the outreach, the Deputy State Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, said the programme underscored the movement’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Nigerians.
She explained that the initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by bringing essential healthcare services closer to underserved communities.
According to her, the prevailing economic realities have made access to quality healthcare difficult for many Nigerians, making community-based interventions increasingly important.
Dr. Gbadamosi reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to initiatives that promote healthcare delivery, youth empowerment and sustainable community development.
Residents also praised the organisers for encouraging preventive healthcare through early diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
The outreach, they said, demonstrates the positive impact of community-driven interventions in complementing government efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across Oyo State.
