In celebration of International Women’s Day, Girls of Top Teez Academy, Ojodu Abiodun, Lagos state were treated to an inspirational and empowering session that featured speeches from notable personalities and informative talks on health and self-care.

 

 

The School Principal, Mrs Helen Olugbemi, in her address, noted that the programme was dedicated to empowering the deprived women in society.

 

While applauding the organizer, she “A woman is the most powerful and beautiful creation of God. Behind our existence, there is a woman but somewhere in our societies, women are still underestimated and believed to be weaker than men. Although, a man exists only because he had been given birth to by a woman, and making life is not an easy task and women are blessed with the graceful power of creating life.”

With a rousing pep talk delivered by Princess Adeola Shittu, the Convener and Publisher of Event Dairy & Lifestyle Magazine, she emphasized the importance of celebrating the strength and potential of women, while encouraging the young girls to embrace their uniqueness, pursue their passions, and break through societal barriers to achieve greatness.

 

 

In a similar breath, Theresa Moses, a seasoned journalist and empowerment advocate, shared her journey of empowering women through the media and entrepreneurship. She urged the girls to believe in themselves and their abilities while stressing the importance of perseverance and determination to achieve their goals.

 

The event also featured a health talk by a representative of Alheri Hospital, Ojodu who emphasized the importance of adequate rest, early detection of illnesses, and maintaining a healthy diet for overall well-being.

 

 

Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo Ayinla nee Daniel, a Sociology graduate from Olabisi Onabanjo University, who also holds an Executive Master Certification in Project Management and is a coordinator “Inside Out” with Agatha Foundation touched on the theme of inclusion and diversity in her speaker.

 

The proud mother of three stressed the need for women to support and empower each other. She shared inspiring stories of successful women across various fields and encouraged the girl child to pursue their passions fearlessly and relentlessly.

 

 

Throughout the session, various speakers emphasized the importance of critical thinking, time management, and self-care in achieving success. They urged the girls to develop a strong sense of self-confidence, celebrate their achievements, and strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

 

CSP Andrew Akinsheye, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ojodu-Abiodun Divisional Headquarters, represented by ASP David Adeboye, in his address, highlighted the power of inclusion while stressing the importance of celebrating diversity, and recognising the unique strengths that each individual brings to the community.

 

 

He urged the audience to embrace their differences, fostering a more vibrant society.

 

Mr. Joshua Ajaka, a sales representative of Mamuda Group makers of Pop Cola, etc., delivered inspiring speeches, emphasising self-belief, perseverance, and the importance of supportive networks. The event also featured informative talks on health and inclusion by Dr. Patrick Oghoghorie, CMD Alheri Hospital, who was represented, highlighting the significance of personal safety, hygiene and education.

 

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Ayodeji Orojo Head Teacher of Top-Teez Nursery and Primary School, Ojodu, the representative of the Proprietress; reiterated the significance of International Women’s Day as a reminder of the progress made by women and the need to continue stringent advocacy for gender equality and empowerment.

 

 

Highpoint of the event was a lively question and answer session, where the girls engaged with the various speakers and expressed their gratitude for the insightful and inspiring session. Drama presentation by the girls, citation, music, puzzle game and dance.

 

Overall, the International Women’s Day celebration at Top Teez Academy served as a platform for empowering and encouraging the next generation of female leaders, instilling in them the confidence and determination to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in society.
