Emmanuel Chinedum Okonkwo, popularly known as Mr Aloy, is a Nigerian comedian, Nollywood actor, content creator, filmmaker, brand influencer and entrepreneur. He is widely recognized for his signature gateman role as “Aloy” (Aloysius) in the web series “My Kids and I” . He is the CEO of Mr. Aloy Studio and Memshack Medics.
Early Life & Background
Mr Aloy hails from Uli in Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria, and is Igbo by tribe. He was born on May 15 into a Christian family of three. He lost his mother at a tender age and was raised by his mother’s sister / relatives.
His stage name “Mr Aloy” was inspired by his grandmother’s husband.
Education
He had his primary school education in Ihiala, Anambra State. In 2007, he applied to study Medical Laboratory Technology at Anambra State College of Health Technology, where he graduated as a certified Medical Laboratory Technician.
Career Journey
1. Medical Career to Business:
Before entertainment, he worked briefly in the medical field. In 2008, he relocated to Lagos. He started a business importing medical laboratory equipment with N300,000 initially meant for a visa to Europe. The business, Memshack Medics, started with selling lab equipment and expanded into importation of all medical equipment.
2. Nollywood Career:
His passion for entertainment started in church, where he was head of the drama department at Christ Embassy, and his pastor encouraged him to commercialize his talent. He moved to Lagos and began attending auditions in Surulere.
His first Nollywood movie was in 2011 titled “Destruction Instinct” where he played a corrupt policeman. He revealed he worked in the industry for more than two years before earning his first N2,000 and paid N3,000 just to be auditioned.
His breakthrough came with the web series “My Kids and I” where he played the gateman, Mr. Aloy. He has produced movies like Tinta (his first self-produced series in 2012 which aired on Galaxy TV), Amazing Sisters, Dr General Clinic, Once Upon A Time In Obudu, Calabar Carnival, Wisdom Of The Kids, and many others. He has acted alongside stars like Bolanle Ninalowo, Funke Akindele, Nkem Owoh (who he cites as inspiration) and Bishop Umeh.
3. Content Creation / Comedy Empire:
With skit-making taking over, he transitioned into digital comedy. He initially started with “bumbum and bosom” content but his Facebook page was flagged and monetization removed. He then pivoted to family-value, impactful and moral lessons — reminding people to care for parents, etc. — which went viral.
Today, his page “Emma Chinedum Comedy” has over 9 million followers on Facebook, with strong presence on YouTube 1m + subscribers), Instagram @mraloy1 and TikTok. He runs a full production team with writers and cast. He has played the gateman role over 20 times.
Entrepreneurship & Achievements
He is CEO of Mr. Aloy Studio and Memshack Medics. He has invested heavily in real estate.
Family & Lifestyle
Mr Aloy is a very strong Christian who does not joke with his faith. He says he never uses “Jesus” or “Holy Ghost fire” mockingly in skits because of his faith.
He is married to Chinonso Prisca, from Imo State. They have two sons. He describes himself off-camera as a very serious-minded person who doesn’t mix business with pleasure.
Philosophy on Wealth
Mr Aloy believes whatever one uses to make money should contribute to the betterment of humanity and service to God. He is focused on building a content empire similar to Irokotv and mentoring upcoming creators. His advice: “Everything is vanity upon vanity. However, we should enjoy all that life has given us.
