Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has informed veteran singer and social activist, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, that for Nigeria’s situation to change, there must be a change in leadership.

In his words: “If you have to change Nigeria’s situation, you have to change leadership”.

According to a video seen on Twitter, Obasanjo stated this yesterday during a lunch with Charly Boy and members of Frustrated Nigerian Youths.

“Had lunch yesterday with Baba OBJ, as usual na Nigeria, leadership and the youths we dey talk about for hours. Nigerian youths we dey una hand,” Charly Boy said.

While describing himself (Charly Boy) as the President of Frustrated Nigerian Youths, Obasanjo said “I am their father”.

1steleven9jatv.com reports that Obasanjo had said he wants Peter Obi of Labour Party to win the 2023 presidential election.

Obasanjo, who was in office under the People’s Democratic Party banner, has been a crucial player in campaigning for the south-eastern candidate in the north of Nigeria.

See interview below:

Charly Boy: If you were asked, maybe from the street, you don try everything- no job, no hope. The environment is so toxic. I don’t know what can grow in a toxic environment. If you were asked to advise that young Nigerian, Papa, what would you say- to keep their hope because we have a serious battle on our neck? Some people have lost hope.

Obasanjo: That we are poor and frustrated is not the fault of God, it is the choice of our leaders. If you are going to change that situation, you have to change leadership. There is nobody who will do it other than the youths. My own baby is Nigeria that has a robust waist. And that is where I want to bid on, not any individual, who I know they will not achieve whatever they promise to achieve.”
