Following the proposed reintroduction of Monthly Sanitation exercise in Lagos State as announced by the state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday, the Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has lauded the initiative, describing it as “a perfect initiative at a critical time like this”.
The Council Chairman disclosed that such intervention, when fully operational, will help stop perennial flooding and also prevent spread of diseases.
Oloyede in a press statement issued by his media office on Wednesday, disclosed that the planned reintroduction of the exercise will further promote cleaner and healthier environment, particularly in homes and market places.
Oloyede however urges total compliance from residents, once the exercise becomes operational, stressing that the exercise will be better for all and sundry.
He equally called on LAWMA operators within the council area to be up and doing and promptly evacuate the dirts once packed by the residents.
He said; “I am happy with the planned reintroduction of monthly sanitation exercise in Lagos, this is a laudable initiative from our amiable Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The exercise is a timely response to the current environmental and health challenges we are facing in the state.
“I urge our people to totally comply once it is operational as we shall equally followup for compliance. After the exercise, I urge our people to pack the dirts and place them at the appropriate place for appropriate disposal by the LAWMA officials.”
“Our LAWMA operators should also be timely in evacuating the dirts as the residents will be taken them off the gutters, so as not to allow it cause another health problems.”
