Residents of Somolu Local Government Area were applauded for the religious tolerance among themselves, creating avenue to be their neighbours’ keeper in an area known to playing host to people of various ethnic groups.
The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu applauded the residents earlier yesterday during the special prayer session hosted by his immediate official staff members and political aides.
At the thanksgiving prayer session held at the Conference Hall of the council secretariat, members of the management team of the council were there to join in the prayerful celebration of the return of the workaholic Chairman who is well known for given free food to the elderly people in his area.
In his sermon, Sheikh AbdulHakeem Akorede Hissa admonished the Council Chairman to always remain thankful to Allah as it’s not everyone who desire good deeds are able to do it. He said the leadership style of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu in ensuring his followers are well taken care of is a way of building more leaders for a better tomorrow. The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih clergyman urged the council helmsman to forget the pain of the past but should remain with the lessons. He however, charged the Chairman’s aides on loyalty, truthfulness and steadfastness.
Meanwhile, Pastor Stephen Oladiran of Christ Apostolic Faith, on his part, preached about love and unity as the secret that will make Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu achieve more than what he has achieved during his first term in office. He emphasised that wisdom is an important spiritual tool that every leader needs to enjoy and expand their followers. He prayed that God will bless the Council Chairman with more wisdom greater than that of King Solomon.
Meeting with the clergymen in his office, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu said Somolu is a peaceful and that can’t be unrelated to the fact that Muslims, Christians and Traditionalists are living as one family. “We are our neighbours keepers and we can’t have a programme in the council here without ensuring all religions are represented”.
However, he assured his aides that hard-work is not an hidden attribute but can be easily seen. He charged them to put in their best to serve the government and the people of Somolu with total loyalty. “When you put in your best in this government with total loyalty, you will smile always because it pays”, Dullar said.
