Damilola Olayemi, widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has reportedly agreed to have her husband buried at their home in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a disagreement with his family over his final resting place.

The development was disclosed on Sunday by Lanre Alewilese, a close associate and colleague of the deceased, in an Instagram video amid growing controversy over the burial arrangements.

The disagreement reportedly began after the singer’s family alleged in a viral interview that the 32-year-old widow opposed plans to bury her husband at their Ibadan residence, expressing a preference for a cemetery burial.

Toluwanisings’ father was said to have insisted that his son should be taken to his hometown and buried beside his late mother if he could not be laid to rest at the family’s Ibadan residence.

The dispute sparked reactions on social media, with some users questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s sudden death.

However, Alewilese described the disagreement between the widow and her father-in-law as a misunderstanding that had now been resolved.

He appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow, saying she was already going through a difficult period following her husband’s death.

“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this,” he said.

“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding.

“The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house. Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved,” Alewilese added.
