America-based Nigerian actress and humanitarian, Tonia Okoro, popularly known as Ferrari, has finally received two prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards in recognition of her humanitarian contributions, leadership and commitment to helping others.
The awards, presented by institutions based in Connecticut, United States, were originally conferred in 2025, but Okoro could not attend the ceremonies in person at the time because of her daughter.
She eventually received both awards on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from Dr. Mrs. Anne Adepoju, a Presidential Honoree and Peace Ambassador, who personally presented the honours to the actress.
One of the recognitions is an Exceptional Leadership Award from HBI University, acknowledging Okoro’s “remarkable humanitarian contributions and outstanding leadership.” The accompanying certificate describes the honour as recognition of individuals whose work contributes to humanitarianism, business, arts, entertainment, social service, government and other areas of community impact.
The second recognition is also a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented in recognition of her commitment to humanitarian service and community development.
According to Okoro, the recognitions were particularly meaningful because she was among the individuals honoured as an Eminent Peace Ambassador for their humanitarian efforts.
Reflecting on the awards, the actress expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a major encouragement to continue contributing to society and supporting people in need in whatever way she can.
“It is a big deal to be honoured and recognised. I am encouraged to do more humanitarian work and help others in my little way,” she said.
Okoro’s recognition highlights the growing attention being given to Nigerians in the diaspora who combine their professional careers with humanitarian and community-oriented initiatives.
Although she was unable to travel to Connecticut for the original ceremonies in 2025 due to her responsibilities as a mother, the eventual presentation of the awards in September 2026 has given her the opportunity to formally receive the honours.
For the actress, the awards represent more than personal achievement, but also a renewed commitment to using her platform and resources to positively impact the lives of others.
