Five journalists from Nigeria, publisher of Conquest magazine and online; Adeyemi Bamidele, publisher of Sahara weekly; Femi Oyewale, the PRO, Success Link Oil & Gas; Oyemade Opeyemi, THISDAY Newspapers reporter; King Akan Eyo and publisher of Megastar Magazine/Senior Correspondent at BEN TV London; Adeniyi Ifetayo have completed a five-day international course on ‘Becoming Multimedia Journalists’ at Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), Johannesburg, South Africa.
The International Journalist Training which started on Monday, June 21, 2021 exposed Media practitioners and journalists from Nigeria to Mastering Multimedia Journalism; fair and balanced reportage, Digital Journalism Ethics; Storyboarding and Best Practices, Understanding Linear and Non-Linear Stories; Navigating Stories Across Social Media/Audio-visual storytelling; and Creating Infographics – the Future of story writing.
The last day of the course further provided participants the opportunity to be better informed from lectures delivered by resource facilitator, also a renowned Journalist, Camilla Bath, who took the five Nigerian Journalists through the ethics in a digital world, how video reporting is evolving and rules for journalism in the 21st century, et al.
The training was closely followed by an interactive session which availed participants the opportunity to further seek clarification and responses to questions awaiting urgent answers.
The Nigeria media is on its way to attaining greater feat, as the certified Journalists plans to flag off a platform to help assist in solving problems associated with media practicing, digital hitches and spreads of misinformation.
