Omo Oduduwa Heritage Day stands out as a truly unique and unforgettable celebration far beyond an ordinary festival. It is a powerful platform dedicated to showcasing the richness of Yoruba culture, heritage, and talents to the world, uniting people through tradition, creativity, and pride.
The 2026 edition, held on the 4th of April at Ikeja Club, opposite Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, was nothing short of spectacular a grand cultural funfair that left lasting memories in the hearts of all who attended. The atmosphere was electric, colorful, and deeply rooted in tradition, as guests were treated to a rich blend of cultural displays, music, dance, and artistic expression.
The event came alive with thrilling performances from incredible talents. Kenny Sax set the tone with a captivating saxophone performance that energized the audience, while Arike Olohunadun delivered a soulful and culturally rich performance that resonated deeply with the audience. Akanni Okin also brought intensity and tradition to the stage, showcasing the depth of Yoruba artistry. The vibrant New Generation Dancers added youthful energy and excitement, blending modern creativity with traditional rhythm in a way that kept everyone on their feet.
Guiding the entire event with charisma and cultural flair was Babalabule of Ariya FM, who served as the Master of Ceremony, keeping the audience engaged, entertained, and connected throughout the celebration.
The event also witnessed the presence and support of distinguished dignitaries. The Honourable Commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture was ably represented by the Director of Creative Arts. A Member of the House of Representatives, Chief Mrs. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, was represented by Prince Taiwo, showing strong legislative support for cultural development. The Father of the Day, Prince Tunde Fisayo, CEO of Aurora Brokers Ltd, was represented by Prince Oladeji Olakoyejo, further emphasizing the importance of private sector participation in cultural promotion. Also present to grace the occasion was Elder Shadrack Oladipupo, the CEO of Shadroyal Nig Ltd and President of Okeigbo Valued Friends Club, whose presence added prestige, honour, and strong community representation to the event.
Beyond the stage, the venue was beautifully transformed into a vibrant cultural marketplace, featuring outstanding vendors who added color, creativity, and enterprise to the celebration. Notable among them were Aholiab Couture, Esther Royal Couture, More World Enterprises (Jewelries), Layi Arts, Saber Place, and Lingzhi Global Nig Ltd. These vendors showcased exquisite Adire fabrics, handcrafted jewelries, herbal coffee, and captivating art exhibitions, giving guests a rich and immersive cultural shopping experience.
Guests also indulged in a wide array of delicious local delicacies, enjoying the taste of tradition while soaking in the festive atmosphere. Laughter, music, and cultural pride filled the air as attendees connected, celebrated, and embraced their roots.
